Myanmar was included in the list of the 10 most dangerous countries for journalists in the world in the 2024 World Press Freedom Index published by Reporters Without Borders, also known as Reporters sans Frontières (RSF).

In the RSF's regional press freedom index, the Asia-Pacific region is the second most difficult region in the world to operate a media business after the Maghreb-Middle East region, and five countries in the Asia-Pacific region are among the 10 most dangerous countries in the world for journalists.

Among the 10 most dangerous countries for journalists in the world, the countries in the Asia-Pacific region are Myanmar, China, North Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan.

According to the rankings, Myanmar is ranked 171, followed by China 172, North Korea 177, Vietnam 174 and Afghanistan 178.

Among the 180 countries listed in the World Press Freedom Index, the countries ranked 1st to 5th are Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands and Finland, and there are only nine countries below Myanmar.
