Stock Market Live Updates: Perspective by Mr. Sanjay Kumar, MD & CEO, Rassense Pvt Ltd on WPI Data for April 2025
The WPI data being on a 13 month low is a strong indicator of robust economic growth. The rate of inflation as per the food index has cooled off by over 50%, resonating a strong domestic growth backed moderation in food prices owing to a seasonal drop.
This along with a strong CPI performance points toward a well-sustained liquidity flow fuelling economic growth. With the upcoming monsoon season projected to be favourable, the food inflation is likely to remain in check. We also believe the strengthening of the Rupee will help control edible oil and pulses prices, as they have a significant impact in reducing inflation.
Last but not the least, the ongoing Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) plan is the most ambitious project ever undertaken in India to enable a decentralised storage of food grain. This will eliminate malpractices like black marketing and hoarding, while ensuring availability of food grains round the year.
Given this backdrop, we expect India will be better equipped than ever to manage food inflation going forward.

Commodities market live today: Gold vulnerable to the Risk-On sentiment, says Renisha Chainan at Augmont
Following the U.S. and China’s agreement to significantly reduce tariffs, gold fell to its lowest level in almost a month, although it slightly recovered yesterday as a result of ongoing uncertainty surrounding the direction of trade talks.
· Because of the modest April CPI miss, the US dollar is under less pressure, and tariffs have less immediate effect. The April US inflation report was marginally weaker than what market participants had anticipated monthly.
· The World Gold Council reports that gold ETFS saw net inflows of 115 tons in April, the biggest monthly rise in more than three years and the fifth consecutive month. Nearly 65 tons of these inflows came mostly from China.
Technical Triggers
· Gold prices may drop to $3200 (~Rs 92000) if they remain below $3265 (~Rs 94000) this week. And we are expected to see a $200 decline from those levels up to $3000 (~Rs 86000) if prices break and hold below $3200, which is the Double Top formation’s neckline support.
· Silver prices are expected to get momentum now, as the tariff war has de-escalated. We are likely to see prices touching $34(~Rs 99000) and $35(~Rs 102,0000) soon in the coming days.

Commenting on the same, Mr. Colin Shah, MD, Kama Jewelry said, “The exports witnessing a decline in April 2025 can be viewed as a direct impact of the tariffs levied by President Trump, which had shaken the global market, thereby creating a ripple effect in the domestic market as well. Secondly, the prolonged geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Russia-Ukraine and the US-China trade war continue to spread a wave of uncertainty across the globe, thereby impacting the demand-supply dynamics.
Going forward, we expect trade activities to see some momentum following the recent talks between the two major markets of the world-US and China regarding tariffs which is expected to ease the situation in the coming months.”

Economy Updates: Sanjay Kumar, MD & CEO, Rassense Pvt Ltd on CPI data
The food inflation has declined by a stellar 91 basis points in comparison to March 2025, which was already down over 100 basis points lower than the following month. Also, It is for the 3rd consecutive month that the CPI inflation has stayed below the 4% mark, reflecting a commendable trajectory that underlines the robust domestic economic growth.
On a broader level, this indicated a sound macro-economic management highlighting the fact that even amid a tense situation at the border, India is well positioned to manage inflation with sheer efficiency, thanks to a rapidly evolving robust warehousing and logistics infrastructure, aided to some extent by moderate fuel prices.
There is a sense of stability in liquidity flow and the same looks promising to be sustained in the longer term. Also, predictions of a favourable monsoon season will ensure that inflation is kept well in check. This will also reflect positively on the food services sector in terms of some relief in nature produce prices.

Commodities market live updates: Gold prices rebound on bargain-hunting as US inflation data supports market
Manav Modi, Senior Analyst, Commodity Research at Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd
Gold prices rose on bargain-hunting after a sharp loss in the previous day, while softer-than-expected inflation data from the U.S. also lent support. The U.S. and China on Monday said they would pause their tariffs for 90 days. Following the talks in Geneva over the weekend, the U.S. said it will cut tariffs on Chinese imports to 30% from 145% while China said it would cut duties on U.S. imports to 10% from 125%. Gold witnessed some rebound following yesterday’s sharp sell-off after latest US inflation data offered support for bets on interest rates this year. US inflation rose less than expectations in April amid tame prices in clothing and new cars. The CPI report suggest importers and retailers are absorbing some of the extra costs, and imported products sold now arrive d before the tariffs were in effect. The data led to a sell-off in Dollar index, which fell below the 101 mark again. On domestic front, USDINR witnessed a strong move moving by more than 50 paise and hovering above 85 once again. Focus now shifts to US Retail Sales, manufacturing index and comments from Governor Powell, scheduled later this week.

Stock market live today: Global markets shift as US-China deal unfolds, bringing opportunities for Indian investors
VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited.
“Global markets are in a state of flux moving up and down in response to continuously changing policy scenarios. Trump’s reciprocal tariff policy which caused tremors in markets is now done and dusted with a deal emerging between US and China. It appears that the trend of weakening dollar is over. The US 10-year yield has spiked to 4.47% and this might impact the FII fund flows to India which has been keeping the Indian market resilient. There is also a risk of hot money again moving to cheaper Chinese stocks in the new environment of improving US-China relationship.
However, a strong tailwind for the Indian market is the sharp dip in April CPI inflation to 3.16%. This leaves enough room for the MPC to cut rates thrice more in this cutting cycle. This is positive for the market in general and rate sensitives in particular.”

Commodities market live today: Vaibhav Porwal, Co-Founder, Dezerv on Surge in gold prices
“Gold has doubled in the last five years and is trading at an all-time high.
There have been multiple periods in the past decade where significant gaps emerged between returns from gold and equities. As an investor, including gold in your portfolio would have helped you experience significantly lower volatility and stress.
Three key reasons why gold prices are peaking right now:
Global tensions are pushing investors towards safer assets.
US recession fears are creating market panic.
A weakening dollar is enhancing gold’s attractiveness.
Gold continues to serve as a crucial hedge against currency volatility and geopolitical risks, offering stability during uncertain times.
Its inherent value transcends market cycles and currency fluctuations, making gold both portfolio insurance during market turbulence and a strategic asset capable of enhancing overall long-term returns.
Unlike equities, fixed income, or real estate, which require extensive analysis and expertise, gold offers simplicity. It doesn’t demand specialised knowledge or significant time investment, making it accessible to all investors.
Rather than viewing gold solely as a safe haven during market downturns, consider it an essential component of a well-diversified investment strategy.
Successful investing isn’t about chasing the latest rally or timing market peaks—it’s about building resilient portfolios through thoughtful diversification and strategic asset allocation.
We recommend a strategic 8-10% allocation to gold.”

Stock market live today: Market Morning inputs by Shrikant Chouhan, Head - Equity Research
On Tuesday, the benchmark indices experienced profit booking at higher levels. The Nifty finished 346 points lower, while the Sensex declined by 1,281 points. Among the sectors, the Defence Index outperformed, rallying by 4.10 percent, whereas the IT Index suffered the most, losing nearly 2.5 percent.
From a technical perspective, the market opened quietly but faced consistent selling pressure at higher levels throughout the day. The daily charts have formed a bearish candle, indicating potential temporary weakness. However, the short-term outlook for the market remains positive.
For traders, the levels of 24,500 and 24,450 are key support zones. If the market can trade above these levels, it may retest the range of 24,700 to 24,800. Conversely, if it falls below 24,400, the uptrend will become vulnerable. In that case, traders may consider exiting their long positions.
On Tuesday, Nifty failed to sustain and close above 24700, which has increased selling pressure in the second half. For the day, the strategy should be to buy between 24450 and 24500 with a stop loss at 24400 on a closing basis, while selling is advisable between 24800 and 24900 levels, for that keep a stop loss at 25000.
For the Bank-Nifty, we may see some buying interest between 54700 and 54500. A close above 54500 would be negative.

Stock market live today: Aditya Gaggar, Director of Progressive Shares on today’s market
Profit-booking led to a correction, pulling the Index down to 24,578. Despite this, the overall trend remains positive, with immediate support at 24,430. On the upside, resistance is expected around 24,770. Bank Nifty largely mirrored the Index’s movement, with key resistance and support levels at 55,400 and 54,800, respectively. The Energy segment continues to struggle to overcome its immediate resistance at 35,000; however, a strong rally can be anticipated once the breakout occurs. As mentioned yesterday, the IT sector performed in-line with expectations, correcting by over 2%. We anticipate a phase of sideways movement before the uptrend resumes. Selective buying can be expected in the Metal segment (Jindal Steel-On the verge of a Symmetrical Triangle breakout). In the PSU Banking space, Canara Bank looks strong, having ended a five-month consolidation phase with a breakout from an Inverted Head and Shoulder pattern.
