A conversation between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan, Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai and Major General Kashif Chaudhry, took place on Monday evening.

The talks come after both countries reached a ceasefire agreement on Saturday to halt all military action across land, air, and sea, following four days of military escalation, deadly cross-border drone attacks, and missile strikes.

According to official sources, the discussions covered the modalities of the ceasefire, including measures for both the international border and the Line of Control (LoC). Drone-related concerns were also raised during the talks.

The source further added that both sides discussed issues related to upholding their commitment not to fire a single shot or undertake any aggressive or hostile action against each other. It was also agreed that immediate measures would be considered to ensure a reduction of troops along the borders and in forward areas.

The talks, which were initially scheduled for 12 noon, were delayed and began around 5 PM. Further outcomes of the discussions have not yet been made public.

News18 had earlier reported that during the DGMOs talk, India was likely to raise the issue of infiltration across the border in the aid of unprovoked firing at the LoC. India was also expected to express concern over the unprovoked use of drones and artillery shelling by Pakistan in recent days. Officials made it clear that no diplomatic decisions would be discussed in the meeting, as such matters fall outside the DGMOs’ purview.

India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7 in response for the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). All subsequent retaliations to Pakistani offensives were carried out under this operation.
