RIDOH issues overdose spike alert for central Rhode Island
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health said it issued an overdose spike alert for increased drug overdose activity in East Greenwich, Exeter, Hopkinton, Richmond, and West Greenwich.
RIDOH said that the Region 10 reached its overdose threshold between May 2 and May 8.

The most impacted communities were Exeter and Hopkinton.
“The last time this region experienced an overdose spike was in March 2022,” the alert said.
The department said spike alerts are issued whenever a municipality or region experienced a “higher-than-usual number of non-fatal overdoses” within seven days.
