NH Business Review wins nine awards in New England newspaper competition
Publication honored for reporting, General Excellence
NH Business Review won nine awards in the New England Newspaper & Press Association’s 2020 Better Newspaper Competition.
Reporter Bob Sanders won four awards. He took first-place honors for Business & Economic Reporting for his article on how property taxes are often the biggest tax burden facing New Hampshire businesses and for Health Reporting for his article on the limitations of importing prescription drugs from Canada.
His article on battery storage of electricity won third place in for Science/Technology Reporting and his article on how New Hampshire businesses are dealing with climate change won second place for Weather Reporting.
In addition, associate editor Liisa Rajala won a second-place honor for Racial or Ethnic Issue Coverage for her article on Black Granite Staters’ reactions in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd. Michael Kitch took first place in the Education category for his piece on New Hampshire’s ongoing search for a school-funding solution. And Susan Geier’s article on how the struggle of nonprofits during the pandemic took second place in the General News Story category.
In addition, NH Business Review took third place for General Excellence and its Charitable Giving Guide won second place in the Special Section or Editorial Supplement category.
The awards were presented in a virtual ceremony held last week.
