An Oakland woman was arrested Monday after police say an ongoing investigation revealed that she embezzled at a downtown Roseburg business while working there as a clerk and bookkeeper.
Lisa Ann Good, 53, a long-time employee of Roseburg Book And Stationery was charged with first-degree theft in connection with the investigation of missing money and suspicious credit card credits.
Owners of the store said the investigation went on for two years trying to determine how much was stolen from the company after they began finding red flags in the accounting books.
Jason Byers, who bought the store in 2014, said he estimated as much as $36,000 had been stolen in the time he had owned the store.
“It’s hard to recover from this both personally and financially,” Byers said. “It’s not just a big financial loss, because we were all family.”
Good was cited by Roseburg police and booked and released from the Douglas County Jail. No court date has been set.

I know Lisa. Very likable, and this news floors me. She owns an antique store in downtown Oakland. People who jeopardize everything usually have much more going wrong in their lives than just money issues. Very sad.

No doubt the "secondhand/antique" business is booming in Oakland.
Is ANYTHING booming in Oakland?
Money can make some people do very strange things.
