Lithuania's R&D intensity among EU's lowest in 2016

Lithuania in 2016 spent 286 million euros on research and development (R&D), which accounted for 0.74% of GDP, among the lowest ratios in the European Union, figures from Eurostat showed on December 1st, cites LETA/BNS.
Latvia's spending was 0.44% of the GDP and Estonia's R&D spending was
1.28% of the GDP, while the EU average was 2.03%.
Some 49% of Lithuania's R&D expenditure was in the higher education
sector, while another 36% went to the business sector and 19% to the public
sector.
